This is the most low key of the three Coffee Rush spots. No lake. No fountain drama. Just a solid neighborhood cafe tucked into a Gilbert shopping center that prioritizes speed and those signature giant drinks. You pop in after grocery shopping or on your morning commute. Then somehow you end up staying long enough to knock out half your email backlog.
Coffee Rush menu at this spot stays consistent with the other locations. Frost drinks in multiple flavors. Lattes and mochas and chai. Tea and smoothies. Plenty of iced options for when Arizona does what Arizona does. People consistently praise the big blended drinks and the friendly baristas who remember faces. The line usually moves fast even during rush periods. You will also notice these drinks trend sweet. If that is not your thing, ask them to reduce the sugar or stick with drip coffee and straight espresso shots.
This location works best when you want the Coffee Rush experience without chasing down lakeside parking. Simple and familiar. Very East Valley in spirit. Gets the job done without unnecessary complications. One thing to note is that this spot closes at 7PM unlike the other two locations that go until 11PM. Plan accordingly if you are thinking about an evening coffee run.

Instead you get a gorgeous patio with a water fountain that still gives you something pleasant to look at. Inside stays simple and functional. Plenty of tables for laptop work. Corners perfect for meeting up with friends. The steady background noise of regulars who treat this spot like their default hangout.
Coffee Rush menu at this location mirrors what makes Coffee Rush popular everywhere else. Sweet blended Frosts. Flavored lattes and mochas. Teas. Big iced drinks that double as dessert. If you want less sugar and more punch, go for a strong drip coffee instead. Prices stay reasonable especially considering the cup sizes. That matters when this becomes your regular study or work station.
Think of it this way. If Chandler is the showstopper location, Gilbert plays the reliable everyday role. Same basic concept. Coffee and tea. Social atmosphere. Water features instead of parking lot views. Just calmer overall. Like the Chandler spot, this one also stays open until 11PM daily. That late night option still feels rare for coffee shops in the East Valley.

Scott and Lori Morgan built SoZo as a missional business after dreaming for years about creating a community hang out centered on coffee and live local music. The tagline "Coffee with a Cause" is not marketing speak. It operates as the foundation of everything here. A portion of each transaction goes to charitable causes. Your morning cappuccino funds real work. The Morgans partnered with local charities and global relief organizations over the years (specific partners change but the commitment stays constant). Showing up and ordering a drink becomes participation in something larger than caffeine.
The space sprawls across 3,500 square feet with seating for every mood. Communal tables invite laptop work and conversation. Large leather chairs and couches create living room comfort. Bar seating puts you close to the action. This is more of a hang out space first and a work cafe second (though plenty of people camp here during the day). The layout reinforces socializing over isolation.
Then there is the stage. Professional grade. Multi-channel sound system. Lighting built for performance. SoZo runs as a music and arts venue as much as a coffee shop. Live bands play here. Solo artists test new material. Poetry nights draw young performers sharing personal work to supportive crowds. Open mics happen regularly. You get different experiences depending on when you visit.
The coffee program delivers quality. Standard espresso drinks hit the mark. Signature lattes push creativity. The Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte is a standout worth returning for specifically. Whole bean coffee is available for home brewing. The bar focuses on craft and consistency rather than competing with third wave roasteries on single origin exotica.
Service here skews genuinely friendly. The baristas engage. The owners (Scott and Lori) show up and actually talk to customers. Staff members ask questions and remember faces. This is not transactional service. The warmth feels real rather than trained.
The church connected foundation creates a wholesome welcoming atmosphere without alienating anyone who just wants good coffee and a place to belong. The mission stays visible but not pushy. You can appreciate the charity work or ignore it completely. Either way the coffee tastes good and the space works for hanging out. The approach positions SoZo as open to everyone regardless of background or beliefs.
Worth noting: the menu includes Turkish coffee (which I have not tried yet) and a selection of fancy loose leaf teas for those who want something beyond the standard coffee offerings.

Beanchain Coffee is a community driven coffee shop in Mesa AZ with a menu built around creative lattes, locally sourced pastries and a worker directed mission.
Most coffee shops ask you to believe in something vague. Good vibes. Community. Quality. Beanchain actually shows its work.
I was lucky enough to meet owner David Baxter on my visit. He and his wife started this place, and David is the kind of person who will sit down and walk you through the whole vision without you even asking. The vision is a worker directed business model. That means tools for casual voting, forums for debating ideas, teams that reward people for doing more and a real path to ownership for anyone who wants a career here rather than just a job. It is still evolving but the fact that it exists at all puts Beanchain in a different category from your average coffee shop.
And then you walk inside and the space hits you. It is massive. Not "big for a coffee shop" massive. Just genuinely large. There is a co-working area, a small library, conference rooms and a marketplace for local vendors. And if you go past all of that, there is a hidden study room in the back with even more seating. The whole place breathes. Even when it is busy, it does not feel crowded.
Now the coffee. David pulls shots on an Appia Life and sources his beans exclusively from Valley Specialty Roasters, a local roaster working with a high-end Probat roaster. He uses single origin Brazilian beans across the board. You can taste it in the cup. The Brazilian profile comes through clean and smooth. If you fall in love with it, you can grab a 12oz bag to take home (they call it House Espresso).
The menu is creative without being obnoxious. Signature lattes like the Blueberry Muffin and French Toast are the kind of drinks that sound like a gimmick until you remember that Brazilian beans are naturally sweet and nutty and actually pair well with that kind of thing. Sizes are medium or large only (no small) and the menu tells you exactly how many shots you are getting. Two shots for a medium latte. Four for a large. I cannot tell you how rare it is to see that information on a menu without having to ask. And the milk modifications? Free. Oat milk, almond milk, no upcharge! That is quietly one of the most customer friendly policies I have seen.
There is also something called Drink Infusions where you can add Collagen Peptides, Lions Mane or CBD Powder to any drink. I wanted to go with the the Lions Mane but it was a bit too late in the day. I'll have to save it for the next trip. I wish every shop offered something like this.
But the thing that really stuck with me is the Pay It Forward meal program. You can buy a meal (a sandwich, chips and a drip coffee) for someone in need. The ticket gets printed and pinned to a board in the shop. Someone who needs it comes in and redeems it. There is something quietly powerful about a coffee shop that looks out for the people who may not be able to afford to be there.
Oh, and there is a tattoo artist on the premises. Because of course. Why not...
Mesa has needed something like this for a long time. A place that is genuinely trying to lift people up, from the workers behind the counter to the stranger who grabs a meal ticket off a board on a hard day. Beanchain is not just a coffee shop. It is a bet on people. And from what I saw, it is a bet worth making.
