Sedona is not Phoenix. Let me get that out of the way first. The coffee scene here is small, uneven and built mostly around tourists who do not know any better. Some of the most visited cafes in this town are average at best. That is the reality.
This page is my running list of every Sedona coffee shop and roaster worth knowing about. Every shop on this page earned its spot here for a reason. There are a couple of shops that are still on my list to visit this summer and are clearly marked as pending review. Either I have already vouched for the cup, or there is enough public signal (machine, beans, sourcing, ownership) to suggest it is worth the trip.
Use the filters on the left to cut through it fast. Slow bar pour over. Single origin beans. Drive thru. Outdoor seating. The filters exist because Sedona has more variety than people expect even if the overall scene is limited.

Every Sedona Coffee Shop Worth Knowing About
Blackhawk Coffee proves that a world class coffee experience can come from anywhere. Even a stationary coffee truck in Sedona. I do not usually feature coffee trucks or carts on this site but Blackhawk earned an exception.
This is a family run operation. Chris and his son work the truck and his daughter bakes the muffins. That is it. No corporate ladder. No franchise playbook. Just a family making really good coffee out of a truck with red rock views in the background.
The La Marzocco FB80 is not a machine you casually throw into a truck. It is a commercial workhorse that you would expect to find anchoring a busy brick and mortar cafe. Seeing one inside a coffee truck in Sedona tells you everything you need to know about how seriously these people take their coffee.
I tried the espresso and it was dialed in. Clean and balanced. The Mama Bear Latte is one of their popular drinks and I can see why. The muffins are home baked and worth grabbing alongside your order.
Many people remember Blackhawk from their original spot near the Sedona welcome sign. They have since moved into town to their current location. The new spot still has the views. And Chris and his son still have the same energy they had on day one. Friendly, knowledgeable and genuinely happy to be making coffee for people.
Some of the best coffee experiences I have had in Arizona did not come from the fanciest shops. They came from people who care way too much about a single cup. Blackhawk is that.

Oak Creek Canyon Coffee House Sedona: Historic log cabin coffee shop with forested views. Matador Coffee beans, Astoria espresso machine, hikers' favorite. One mile from West Fork Trail.
Here's the thing about Oak Creek Canyon Coffee House. You're not just getting coffee. You're getting transported to 1924. The property you're standing on is Don Hoelβs Cabins which means you are literally drinking coffee in a place that's been welcoming travelers to northern Arizona for a hundred years! The current owner is Erick Harrell which basically found the holy grail of historic properties: log cabins with actual architectural detail (rare for early cabins, apparently), forested canyon views, and zero corporate vibes. This is what would happen if someone said "what if we built a coffee shop inside a living piece of Arizona history" instead of demolishing it.
The coffee program is legit. They source from Matador Coffee Roasting Co. in Flagstaff, pulling shots on an Astoria Perla espresso machine. Both choices signal that someone here actually cares about craft. The menu isn't trying to be everything. Good coffee. Good service. The kind of place where the barista remembers your order because there aren't fifty drink modifications happening simultaneously.
But honestly, the real draw isn't the coffee. It's where you are. You're basically drinking your latte across the road from where Oak Creek moves through the canyon. Pine trees. Creek sounds. That particular silence you only get when you're far enough from the city. It's the kind of peaceful that makes you forget why you were stressed in the first place.
Location wise, you are only a mile from the West Fork Oak Creek Trail, one of Arizona's most popular hikes. So you've got day-trippers stopping by pre-hike or post-hike. Of course locals who know the spot and travelers passing through. The property also has a vintage-style general store if you need supplies.
Don Hoel, pronounced "hole" ran this place from the 1940s until 1983, turning it into a genuine destination. His family kept it going until the early 2000s. That's a lot of history for one property. The fact that Harrell restored the name to honor Don and preserved the historic cabins instead of bulldozing for a resort tells you something about his values.
You're not just a customer here. You're part of a 100 year legacy of travelers seeking refuge in oak trees and history.

Cream & Cake Couture is a dessert shop and cafe in the Tlaquepaque Arts Village, known for its handmade ice cream and visually appealing desserts. The coffee menu features standard espresso-based drinks prepared on a Rancilio espresso machine. The shop's primary focus is on sweets, offering items like cupcakes, cheesecakes, artisan waffle cones, and shakes.

Bike & Bean is Sedona's oldest bike shop and has been serving the community since 1995. It is a unique combination of a full-service mountain bike shop and a friendly coffee bar. The shop acts as a base camp for the world-class trails right out its back door, offering rentals, service, and local trail knowledge. The bistro serves fine Italian espresso imported from a family-owned producer in Sicily. The atmosphere is consistently described as welcoming and down-to-earth for both seasoned riders and those just stopping in for a cappuccino.

I know, I know... this is a coffee shop website and this spot is about 90% tea. But their vibe was so good I just couldn't leave them out! For my die hard caffeine addicts, the coffee menu is short and sweet: it's either the traditional Hot Turkish Coffee or making your chai "dirty" with a shot of espresso. Forgive me for the tea-ward detour!
The Chai Spot is a truly special and magical social enterprise. It is a place designed to transport you to Pakistan through vibrant colors, authentic decor, and traditional flavors. The shop was founded on a beautiful mission of peace building and connection, with a portion of profits supporting women and children in Pakistan. The atmosphere is cozy and serene! but I like to think about it as relaxing & therapeutic as well! You can kick off your shoes and lounge on colorful cushions while sipping from an incredible menu of authentic and made from scratch chai. The menu features unique options like the creamy Butter Chai (Kashmiri) and the aromatic Sulaimani Chai. This is an awesome Sedona experience for anyone seeking a taste of authentic culture and a moment of peace. The Chai Spot closes at 6:00PM daily. Allow extra time for finding parking as the the beautiful Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village can get really busy.

Here is the thing about Sedona. The town itself is beautiful and worth every visit, but the Village of Oak Creek is where you go when you want Sedona without the chaos. It is calmer, quieter and a little more grounded. And right in that village community is where you will find Big Park Bakery.
This place is a local gem. The atmosphere is peaceful and inviting. You walk in and it just feels good. Now, they do serve coffee. The espresso drinks are made with the medium roasted Firecreek Boxcar Blend (I reviewed Firecreek Coffee separately on this site and it is worth your time). The drip coffee uses Firecreek's Storm Chaser Blend. And here is a fun little bonus: buy a 12 oz bag of beans and they throw in a free small drip coffee. The machine pulling the shots is an Eversys Cameo, a Swiss-made superautomatic that runs over $21,000. For a bakery, a superautomatic actually makes a lot of sense. You want consistency without dedicating a trained barista to the espresso bar. Every latte comes out the same. I had one with the Boxcar Blend and it was fine. Decent. But honestly? That is not why you are here.
You are here for the pastries!Β I had the Cream Cheese and Fruit Croissant. It had plum pieces on top (or maybe cherry? I don't know) and it was absolutely amazing! Not "pretty good for a small town bakery" amazing, just flat out amazing. We also got the olive tapenade croissant and that one was fabulous in its own savory way. The croissants here are authentic European style: flaky, buttery and the kind of thing you find yourself thinking about on the drive home.
Speaking of the drive home, I also bought a loaf of their artisan bread to take with me. Spectacular. No notes.
I would honestly go back to Big Park Bakery just for the desserts alone. The coffee is a nice supporting act, but the baked goods are the whole reason to make the trip.

Let us be honest. Living Chocolate is not really a coffee shop. It is a cacao shop, a wellness shop, a chocolate shop and a Sedona shop in the truest sense. Yes, coffee is on the menu, but it is sharing the spotlight with things you do not see at your average cafe.
The whole place revolves around the owner Shari and her love for cacao is the kind that rubs off on you the second you walk in. She knows her stuff and she will happily walk you through any of it.
I came in for the ceremonial cacao which is what you should do too. Shari scooped a paste portion from a container in the fridge and steamed it using the high pressure steam wand on the Astra GA espresso machine. The result was rich, dense, thick and velvety with complex undertones running underneath. I am pretty sure there was a touch of honey in there for sweetness. Here is the cool part though... About 5-10 minutes in, I noticed a warm, calm and clear feeling and a noticeable mood lift. No jitters. No espresso crash. That is the theobromine doing its thing. It dilates blood vessels and works very differently from the central nervous system jolt you get from an espresso shot. Cacao has very little caffeine, so what you are feeling is something else entirely.
The wellness rabbit hole goes deeper too. You can add a medicinal mushroom blend to any drink (Lion's Mane and other adaptogens) and there are Ayurvedic soma shots on the menu, with authentic flavors and quality ingredients. The goal here is holistic wellness, and Shari means it.
Now to the coffee, since this site is, after all, about coffee. Living Chocolate sources beans from Clay Coffee Roasters. The bean of choice is the Guatemala single origin at a medium dark roast. Shots are pulled on the Astra GA. Do not expect third wave fireworks here. It is a comforting and familiar milk drink that pairs really well with a piece of chocolate.
Speaking of, I grabbed a handful of pieces from the case and the runaway winner was the Keto Pecan Truffle. Shari uses quality single origin and blended cocoa across the line to craft these things which is cool.
If you are in Sedona and you only have time for one stop, make it Living Chocolate. Order the ceremonial cacao, add a truffle and let Shari tell you about cacao for ten minutes. You will walk out warmer than you came in.

Sometimes a shop tells you what it is right in the name. Layla's Bakery Cafe puts the bakery first. And after one visit, that order makes a lot of sense. This is a family owned whole grain bakery and they specialize in incredible European style pastries and sourdough breads made from scratch.
The space is a real charmer. Towering ceilings, soft natural light, corrugated metal panels up high and clean white walls down low. The floors are stained concrete tiles. There is Indigenous art on the walls, traditional pottery on the shelves, desert landscape paintings and green plants spilling off ledges. Cozy booths with light cushions hug the perimeter and dark high-top counters anchor the middle of the room for the in and out crowd. It is industrial meets Southwestern and it works.
The front patio deserves its own paragraph though. It sits slightly below ground level, so you are not getting any sweeping views but it might be one of the nicer patios I have parked at in a while. Birds, trees, plenty of umbrellas for shade and tables to spare. The staff is warm and welcoming on top of it all. A great spot to camp out for an hour.
Now to the coffee. Layla's runs Metador beans across the board. The espresso is Metador's Traditional Espresso, a light roast with promised notes of cinnamon and citrus. I am a light roast guy so I was pumped to see it on the bar. I ordered a small latte and it was just ok. The cinnamon and citrus that pulled me in did not show, or maybe got overpowered by the milk. It was not bitter and the balance was decent though. Just a polite and quiet cup. The drip is a different story. They run Metador's Sedona Blend, a medium roast of Mexican Altura and Papua New Guinea (PNG) beans, and the two origins fill in each other's gaps in a really pleasant way. The Mexican side keeps things bright and clean. The PNG side adds some weight and a little rustic depth. It holds up to milk or cream and or just straight black. It was a solid approachable cup and honestly the better move if you are stopping in for caffeine. Oh, and most syrups here are house made which is a nice touch.
But here is the thing. You are not coming to Layla's for the espresso. You are coming for the bakery. The Kouign Amann (pronounced queen ah-mahn) is the headliner. It is a French pastry that lives somewhere between a croissant and a caramelized sugar cake. Crunchy shell, dozens of flaky layers inside and a sweetness that knows when to stop. I would drive back just for this!
I also grabbed a Caprese sandwich on a whim. It was one of the few sandwiches they had without meat and I went in with low expectations just by the looks of it behind the glass. I left amazed. A thin layer of pesto, top quality mozzarella and the kind of bread that makes you stop mid bite to look at it. A really great sandwich that completely caught me off guard!
So here is the deal. If you are picky about your espresso shots, grab the drip or skip the coffee altogether. If you are here for the pastries and the food, you are in for a treat. Layla's is a bakery first and a really good one at that.

Sedona already sells you on the idea that nature knows best. Wildcraft Kitchen just took that idea and built a menu around it.
This little cafe in Uptown Sedona is doing something that sounds simple on paper but is surprisingly rare in practice. Everything is organic. Nothing is cooked in refined seed oils. No refined sugars. Made from scratch. The kind of place where you read the menu and think... wait... someone actually thought about all of this?
They did.
The coffee comes from FreeForm Coffee Roasters (yes, the same FreeForm I raved about on this site). So right away the espresso bar is starting from a very good place. The full lineup is here: cappuccino, cortado, flat white, latte, mocha. They offer A2 organic milk which is a detail that will mean a lot to the people it matters to. And then there is the Desert Rose latte which sounds exactly like something Sedona would invent and I mean that as a compliment.
The Kyoto cold brew deserves its own moment. Kyoto style cold brew is a slow drip process that takes hours and produces something smoother and more nuanced than your standard overnight steep. Finding it here felt like a small gift!
Matcha drinkers are not forgotten either. The Summer's Matcha (named after the owner) is on the menu alongside fresh juices, smoothies and keto friendly options. This is a full wellness bar that happens to also pull great espresso shots on a gorgeous Nuova Simonelli.
But Wildcraft is not just a coffee stop. The food menu earns its place. Breakfast burritos, salmon toast, brunch plates built around clean ingredients and honest cooking fats like coconut oil, ghee and olive oil. The kind of breakfast you feel good about an hour later. It gets busy at brunch and the cozy atmosphere makes it easy to understand why people linger.
If you are visiting Sedona and you are trying to eat clean without sacrificing flavor or atmosphere, Wildcraft Kitchen is not just a convenient option. It is the option.

Sedona Coffee By Neighborhood
Sedona is small. But it is not one place. It is four. And the coffee feels different in each one.
Uptown Sedona. The tourist heart of town. Walking distance to shops, galleries and the main strip. This is where Wildcraft Kitchen lives and where you will find the cleanest organic menu in the area. If you are staying in a hotel near State Route 89A, this is your zone.
West Sedona. A bit quieter. Locals live here. The coffee here is less about the photo and more about the cup. Blackhawk Coffee parks in this area and the energy matches.
Tlaquepaque Arts Village. A hidden world. Adobe walls, ivy, fountains and a cathedral. This is where The Chai Spot and Cream and Cake Couture sit. Going for coffee here feels less like an errand and more like a small trip inside the trip.
Village of Oak Creek (Big Park) and Oak Creek Canyon. Just south and just north of town. Big Park Bakery anchors the south. Oak Creek Canyon Coffee House anchors the north and is one mile from the West Fork Oak Creek Trail. If you are hiking, plan your coffee around your trail. Not the other way around.

About the Sedona Coffee Scene
The Sedona coffee roasters and cafes on this page are not a random list. Each one earned its spot.
Sedona will surprise you in pockets. The overall scene is limited, but the spots that do care, really care. On paper, that should not be possible. The population is small. The tourist traffic is huge. That combination usually produces predictable cafes built for volume. Sedona did not go that way (at least, not completely).
What you actually get is range. You get FreeForm Coffee Roasters hand roasting beans with a no snobbery rule. You get Matador Coffee out of Flagstaff being pulled on an Astoria machine inside a 1924 log cabin at Oak Creek Canyon Coffee House. You get a Kyoto slow drip cold brew at Wildcraft Kitchen because someone there cared enough to set it up. You get The Chai Spot, which is not really a coffee shop at all, funding education for women in Pakistan from a courtyard in Tlaquepaque.
And then you get Blackhawk Coffee. A family run truck with a La Marzocco FB80 inside.
Stop looking for the famous shop. Start finding the right cup.
