Some coffee shops are about the vibe. Some are about the beans. And some are about the mission. Blessed Grounds in Tucson is doing all three and somehow none of it feels forced. The shop is veteran owned, the beans are direct trade and the roasting happens right there in house. You can taste it.
I ordered the Ethiopia pour over and it was one of those coffee moments. Blueberry and creamy coconut came screaming out of the cup, the way a really good natural process Ethiopian should. My wife got the chai latte, and I stole sips. A lot of sips. It was nicely spiced with a real warm kick of cinnamon and cardamom. No sugary syrup bomb situation. Just the actual stuff done the actual way.
Shots here come off a Sanremo espresso machine which tells you the team is taking the espresso side seriously. And the staff genuinely wants to talk to you about the coffee, the farms and the story behind the bag. That kind of energy is refreshing.
The room itself is cozy and quiet and easy to settle into. Nothing flashy. Just a place that wants you to stay a while.
A coffee shop with a soul, and the cup to back it up.
