Mis Raices Cafe is located at the edge of downtown Phoenix in the Grand Avenue Arts District. The name translates to "My Roots" and the cafe was founded by Clara Sanchez to celebrate her Mexican heritage. That spirit shows up everywhere from the colorful murals on the walls to the warm energy you feel the moment you walk in.
The menu leans into Latin inspired drinks and it is the best part of the visit. I tried the Horchata Latte and it was well balanced and genuinely good. I drank it to the last drop. I also ordered a latte with a double shot pulled from Mexican Chiapas beans (medium roast). I am typically not a fan of Chiapas beans but I enjoyed this one. They also serve a traditional Cafe de Olla for anyone looking for something classic and comforting. The beans come from local roaster Espressions Coffee Roastery.
Mis Raices is the kind of place that feels personal. It is small and honest and proudly rooted in the culture it represents. Grand Avenue has no shortage of creative spots but this one stands on its own.
