Thumb Butte Coffee

Thumb Butte Coffee Company opened in late 2025 in a vintage gas station on the corner of Sheldon and Pleasant. The family behind it (Ashley & Heidi Lekan) took an old service station shell and turned it into a working roastery. Beans are roasted fresh every single day.

The coffee program is small-town serious: everything is roasted in house and all the syrups are made in house. The specials carry Arizona place names. The Granite Mountain (a cardamom and sea salt latte with a hit of sea salt) and The Scottsdale (the house take on a caramel macchiato) are the drinks regulars order by name. Espresso comes off a La Marzocco, and the menu covers drip, cold brew, pour over and French press alongside the milk drinks. The retail beans are named for the lakes around town: Goldwater Lake, Lynx Lake, Watson Lake and a Granite Basin decaf.

There is a second roaster under this roof, literally. Ty Freedman runs his micro brand Freedman's Finest out of the same building, roasting single origins on a near-infrared machine and selling in recyclable cans. Ask about him at the counter.

The Vibe

Industrial shell, warm fit out. The building's gas station bones are the conversation piece (exposed, characterful, a little "don't judge the outside"), and the inside is cozy enough that people settle in for hours. Seating is varied, parking is free, and the whole thing has the feel of a family operation (because it is).

The Coffee Program

Roasted in house. House made syrups across eight flavors. Landmark-named signature drinks, rotating seasonals. Organic A2 and a full alt-milk board. A tenant micro-roaster adding single origin depth on the side.

The Baking

No in house bakery, and none is needed. The case fills daily from Theodore's Fine Foods, the Prescott institution, with pastries, bagels and donuts rotating. The creme brulee cruffin has its own fan club.
