About The Thread Cafecito

Address:

30 N Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85004

Downtown Core between Monroe & Adams St

The Thread is a Miami style coffee shop in Downtown Phoenix. Miami style coffee is a Cuban tradition. Espresso is pulled strong and sweet, with sugar whipped into the first drops to make a frothy foam called espumita. It is bold, rich, and not bitter. The shop sits in the historic 130 N Central Ave building. The cafe is on the ground floor and the thrift shop is upstairs.

Tiffany Largie founded the shop. She is a Jamaican American serial entrepreneur and the founder of DO THE DAMN THING. She wanted to bring the warmth of a Caribbean cafe to Phoenix. She also wanted to keep the price of a classic cafecito low. As of this writing, a classic cafecito runs about $2.10. The shop opened in late December 2025.

The rapper bbno$ (pronounced "baby no money") stopped in before a show in February 2026. He posted a video giving their iced Americano a 9 out of 10. He called it just perfect.

The Vibe

  • The ground floor cafe has a walk up counter and cozy indoor seating.
  • Latin music plays and house plants fill the space.
  • Staff greet regulars by name.
  • The room feels like a neighborhood living room.
  • Upstairs is a curated thrift boutique.
  • A cortadito downstairs pairs well with a browse upstairs.
  • Wi-Fi is available and the space suits laptop work.

The Coffee Program

  • The menu centers on traditional Cuban coffee.
  • The first drops are whipped with brown sugar into a frothy espumita.
  • The lineup includes cafecito shots, coladas, cortaditos, and cafe con leche.
  • Beans are roasted in small batches each week and used within days of roasting.
  • Signature drinks include La Dorna, La Galleta, and The Chocolate.
  • Syrups are made in house with natural ingredients.

The Baking

  • Pastries are baked fresh in house every morning.
  • The Biscoff stuffed cookie and the cinnamon sugar cookie stand out.
  • There is also blueberry lemon loaf, coffee cake, and guava cheese pastries.
  • Savory options include Cuban pressed sandwiches, jerk chicken sandwiches, and empanadas.

Catering Services

  • The shop delivers across a downtown Phoenix zone.
  • The 9AM Saver is a 96 ounce box of Cuban coffee that serves ten to twelve people.
  • Breakfast and lunch boxes are also available for groups.

I have not visited The Thread in person yet. This is a pre-review based on my research. A full in person review is still coming. Stay tuned.
