Rock Point Coffee is on a church campus. I know. But hear me out. This is not some sad carafe situation in a fellowship hall. Rock Point Coffee Co has its own entrance on the north side, its own vibe and its own pair of BFC Galileo espresso machines. You do not need to be involved with the church at all. You just walk in and get coffee. Nobody is going to ask you about your relationship with God.
And the space. It is massive. Like, almost absurdly spacious. Tons of seating, tons of outlets, shaded outdoor areas, easy parking. People are camped out with laptops everywhere on a Wednesday morning and it is still quiet. Serene, even. There is tons of shaded outdoor seating if you want fresh air without the punishment. Parking everywhere. The whole setup feels like a cheat code for remote workers.
Now here is the thing that got me. They source their beans from Mythical Coffee out in Gilbert (previously Peixoto, which is also great, but Mythical is Mythical). They are running the organic HERA washed Colombia, a light roast. The roaster notes say brown sugar, mandarin and milk chocolate. I am a guy who is usually skeptical of tasting notes. They can be subjective and often feel like marketing. But the barista here pulled something off. I got the small latte (double shot, because going medium just drowns the espresso in milk) and I could distinctively taste all three. The citrus brightness of the mandarin blends with the sweet steamed milk into this smooth citrus cream thing while the natural sugars lift the chocolate and brown sugar notes. No sourness from this light roast which does not happen by accident. Getting a perfectly dialed in light roast is difficult especially when the machine does not pressure profile. Someone here knows their way around pre-infusion timing and good machine calibration!
We also tried the Banana Cream Dream. Sweeter for sure but not in a way that buries the coffee. You can still taste the Mythical beans underneath, and the dates come through nicely. Smooth and creamy without being a milkshake.
Queen Creek is not exactly overflowing with great coffee options. Every undeserved area eventually gets its hero. Queen Creek just got Rock Point Coffee.
