Some coffee shops start with a slick business plan. This one exists because Gabe Watson spent years slinging drinks late at night and finally had enough. You can feel that history in the room. He traded loud bars for early mornings and now he runs Brew Station with his family like a guy who built a space he would actually want to hang out in.
You will hear his name a lot around here, and for good reason. Gabe is the kind of owner who remembers your order and knows the local artists on his walls by name. That hospitality sets the tone for the whole space.
Brew Station sits tucked into a strip mall, easy to miss and easy to fall in love with. The space works as a community hub and a living room. You can plug in a laptop and actually get work done, or you can check out the local art on the walls while kids play and dogs nap nearby.
I will be straight about the coffee since that is what you come to my website for. The craft side is not the main event here. Pour overs (slow bar) are built to highlight medium or light single origin beans. So putting a dark roast in that slot makes zero sense. I skipped ordering it and went with a cappuccino instead.
Espresso comes from the Pristino Blend, made by local roaster Crave Coffee. The cup itself was lovely. Crisp cocoa and soft citrus notes are likely from the Central and South American beans in the mix. The delicate floral note drifting in underneath that I would guess comes from the African beans rounding out the blend.
Brew Station is not chasing a third wave reputation. It is chasing something else entirely, a place where your kid can draw a card, your dog can nap by your feet and the guy behind the counter actually wants to know your name. Some days that matters more than the roast profile.
