Berdena's

Berdena's in Phoenix is a bright and modern specialty coffee shop in the Camelback East Village neighborhood. The menu includes espresso drinks, creative specialty lattes, an exceptional breakfast and brunch selection and fresh in-house baked pastries.

You already know Berdena's. Or at least...you should. The Berdena's Scottsdale location has been a local favorite since 2017 and this Phoenix outpost in Camelback East Village brings the same energy to a Fredo neighborhood.

The setup is familiar. Bright, modern and small enough that it fills up fast. If you go on a weekend and expect to waltz in and grab a seat, temper those expectations. But it is worth the wait.

The breakfast and brunch menu is the real draw here. The Smashed Avocado Toast has the reputation for a reason. The Breakfast Sandwich holds its own. And if you are hungry, Stevie's Big Boy Burrito is the move. The pastry case is also worth your attention. The croissants and cinnamon rolls are made in-house and are the kind of thing that makes you regret not ordering two.

On the coffee side, Berdena's runs a multi-roaster program and the menu has the common drinks. The classics are done well and the specialty lattes (Honey Lavender and Cardamom Rose among them) use house-made syrups that give the drinks a floral character you will not find at most shops.

Both locations are worth visiting. But if you are on the Phoenix side of town, you no longer have an excuse to drive to Scottsdale.
