What if the best espresso in Phoenix was not served in a sleek cafe but hidden among vintage antique treasures? At Indigo Room you will find exactly that. A collision of old-world charm and modern coffee craftsmanship that should not work but somehow does perfectly. Tucked inside Urban Collective (a beautiful antique and vintage store) near the Roosevelt Row Art District, this family run coffee shop feels like crashing a house party where the coffee is unbelievably good. This spot is a true family affair run by people who genuinely care about craft. Owner Carder Mehr brought his expertise from serious Phoenix spots like Press Coffee so you know the quality is guaranteed. They source their beans from the acclaimed WeBe Coffee Roasters in North Phoenix. The blend combines washed and natural specialty beans with flavor notes of Tropical Fruit, Caramel, and Milk Chocolate. Indigo Room Coffee pulls every shot on the legendary La Marzocco Linea Mini machine. This equipment brand is used only by the very best. The quality is so high some people call it the best in Phoenix! For those who would love to see some WeBe single-origin beans pulled through a Chemex or V60, Carder is plotting something special for manual brew enthusiasts. A slow-bar is in the works so be on the lookout for that! Need to settle in with your laptop? They have WiFi. Whether you prefer a perfect Cortado or want to explore the creative side with a Honey Cardamom Latte, colorful Ube Latte, or excellent matcha, you will find something special here. See why Indigo Room is featured in my curated best coffee shops in Phoenix. Sedona
Oak Creek Canyon Coffee House Sedona: Historic log cabin coffee shop with forested views. Matador Coffee beans, Astoria espresso machine, hikers' favorite. One mile from West Fork Trail. Here's the thing about Oak Creek Canyon Coffee House. You're not just getting coffee. You're getting transported to 1924. The property you're standing on is Don Hoel’s Cabins which means you are literally drinking coffee in a place that's been welcoming travelers to northern Arizona for a hundred years! The current owner is Erick Harrell which basically found the holy grail of historic properties: log cabins with actual architectural detail (rare for early cabins, apparently), forested canyon views, and zero corporate vibes. This is what would happen if someone said "what if we built a coffee shop inside a living piece of Arizona history" instead of demolishing it. The coffee program is legit. They source from Matador Coffee Roasting Co. in Flagstaff, pulling shots on an Astoria Perla espresso machine. Both choices signal that someone here actually cares about craft. The menu isn't trying to be everything. Good coffee. Good service. The kind of place where the barista remembers your order because there aren't fifty drink modifications happening simultaneously. But honestly, the real draw isn't the coffee. It's where you are. You're basically drinking your latte across the road from where Oak Creek moves through the canyon. Pine trees. Creek sounds. That particular silence you only get when you're far enough from the city. It's the kind of peaceful that makes you forget why you were stressed in the first place. Location wise, you are only a mile from the West Fork Oak Creek Trail, one of Arizona's most popular hikes. So you've got day-trippers stopping by pre-hike or post-hike. Of course locals who know the spot and travelers passing through. The property also has a vintage-style general store if you need supplies. Don Hoel, pronounced "hole" ran this place from the 1940s until 1983, turning it into a genuine destination. His family kept it going until the early 2000s. That's a lot of history for one property. The fact that Harrell restored the name to honor Don and preserved the historic cabins instead of bulldozing for a resort tells you something about his values. You're not just a customer here. You're part of a 100 year legacy of travelers seeking refuge in oak trees and history.

Think your local coffee shop really knows its beans? Peixoto does not just know them, they grew them! On their family farm in Brazil where the Peixoto name has been tied to coffee for over a century. Walk into this place and the first thing that hits you is the light. High ceilings pull your eyes up to exposed beams and industrial touches that somehow feel warm instead of cold. Hanging pothos plants cascade down from above (and they look healthy, which means someone here actually cares). The space breathes. Natural sunlight pours through the windows and catches on the glassware they use for every drink. These are not paper cups. Your latte arrives in actual glass that shows off the layers and the foam art. The smell is what keeps you there. Fresh roasted coffee with none of that burnt edge you get at places that do not understand their beans. Peixoto roasts light to let the natural flavors come through. Their espresso leans bright and fruity. It tastes different because it is different. This is honey processed coffee from their own farm at Fazenda Sao Jose da Boa Vista in Minas Gerais. The seasonal menu changes with intention. Right now you might find a Hot Honey Latte with cayenne that somehow works. Or a Kettle Corn creation that balances salt and sweet in ways that should not make sense but do. The Coconut Cold Brew returns every summer and people plan their visits around it. The Strawberry Pistachio gets layered in pink and cream and topped with freeze dried berries that crunch. Behind the counter sit baristas who pull shots on equipment that matters. They do manual pour overs with gooseneck kettles. They understand extraction times and water temperature. When you watch them work you see people who actually know coffee instead of just following a recipe card. The pastries come from local bakeries and rotate daily. Get there early if you want the almond croissants (buttery layers for days) or the cardamom buns on Tuesdays. The macarons are delicate enough to justify the price. Everything sells out because everything is actually good. The crowd is a mix. College students claimed corners with laptops. Friends catch up at small tables. Someone in the back is on a video call. The vibe stays relaxed even when the line stretches. Music plays at a volume that lets you think (rare these days). You can sit outside along the street and watch downtown Chandler move past you. This is the original location. The one that started it all in 2015 when Julia and Jeff Peixoto left corporate jobs to do something that mattered more. The space feels lived in now. Comfortable. A place that knows what it is and does not need to prove anything. Parking can require patience during peak hours. The place fills up on weekends. But there is a parking garage nearby that makes it work. And honestly, once you taste what they are doing here, you stop caring about the walk. This is what happens when a family decides their legacy matters more than scale. The farm connection is not a story they tell to sell coffee. It is the actual reason the coffee tastes this way. Worth the trip to downtown Chandler whether you stay for hours or just grab something perfect to go. See also Peixoto Coffee Roaster' Gilbert location.
