How does a coffee shop survive a name change and come out even better on the other side? Gold Brew Coffee Bar used to be Small Town Coffeehouse. Same owners (Nolan and Sonya). Same vibe. They just decided to freshen things up a few years ago with new paint and a new name. Honestly? It worked.
Look, you are not going to find experimental single origin micro lots or competition-level pour overs here. This is not that kind of place. What you will find is a solid espresso, a well-made flavored lattes and people who actually remember your order after a few visits.
The menu covers all the classics. Lattes, cappuccinos, americanos, cold brew. They do flavored lattes really well (which is harder than it sounds when you want the espresso to still taste like coffee). Everything is consistent. I mean genuinely consistent, not the fake "we promise quality" consistent that falls apart on a Tuesday morning.
Here is what I love about Gold Brew. It is quiet. Like actually quiet. You can have a conversation without shouting over grinders and a line of twenty people behind you. It is clean. It is friendly in that real way where the staff seems happy to be there.
Just so you know, they have this drink called the Lotus Plant. It is an adaptogenic drink situation for anyone into mushroom coffee or nootropic stuff. I tried it expecting to hate it (because I am skeptical of wellness beverages). Turns out it is awesome.
Gold Brew is the place you return to because it feels good and the coffee does not disappoint. No drama. Just a comfortable spot where you can sit down and actually relax or meet with friends.
