Curate Cafe menu (see photos) features chef-driven food and fresh roasted coffee in North Scottsdale. Owner Chef Joe roasts beans on site and brings culinary expertise to every dish and drink.
Chef Joe launched Curate Cuisine as a private chef and catering business before opening Curate Cafe in 2024 as a physical home for his curated approach to food and coffee. Now the space serves as both neighborhood cafe and occasional private dining venue for groups up to 30 people.
I visited on an early afternoon and met Chef Joe personally. Nice and easy to talk to guy. The kind of owner who actually cares about what happens in his space.
The coffee program centers on beans roasted fresh multiple times per week. A cast iron Joper roaster lives in the "Roast Room" in the back of the shop. Chef Joe is currently focused entirely on single origin Honduras beans. The Ethiopian beans are gone. He uses a 2/3 washed and natural blend now.
I tried a regular latte made with those Honduras beans and pulled on a La Marzocco. The beans lean a bit darker on the roast spectrum from what I can detect. The latte was pleasant and well made. It might have been tastier with a medium roast but maybe that is just me. I tend to prefer light to medium roasted single origins.
The Lavender Lemon Matcha caught my attention and I couldn't help myself but to try one. What a unique flavor profile. The lemon comes through stronger than the matcha which creates an interesting experience. For a boutique drink it felt slightly diluted. I think they use a touch too much milk. But the flavor itself is incredible. Just ask them to use 10 percent less milk when you order one of those and you will be golden.
Then came the Red Velvet Crinkle Cookie. Delicious. I could come back here just for the desserts. Apparently they have a special dessert chef who comes in every morning to bake the goodies fresh. That attention shows.
The space itself feels modern and clean with plenty of natural light. Chef Joe built all the cafe tables himself. You can actually commission him to make a custom table or charcuterie board if you want. The room works well for laptop sessions and meetings or of course just hanging out. It has that polished yet friendly neighborhood spot energy that makes you want to stay longer than planned.
Curate Cafe is doing something different in North Scottsdale. Fresh roasted coffee, chef driven food, and a space that feels curated without being stuffy. Worth the visit.
